1915 the Resident informed the Baroda Government that on a proposal put foward by the Dhar and the Alirajpur States for an extension of the Bodeli—Chhota Udepur Railway to Kuksi the question of the best way of opening up by means of a railway the area of the Narmada Valley beyond Chhota Udepur had come up before the Government of Bombay for final consideration and that the Government of Bomba [...] The Resident invited the views of the Baroda Government on the question of the The questions in cession of jurisdiction and on the suvolved in the revised ested arrangements for the exercise proposals. As regards the portion of the Narmada Valley to the south of the river I am to explain that the idea of a line along the Agra—I3ombay Road to the Tapti Valley was communicated to and discussed with the Agent of the Bombay Baroda and Central India Railway before it was mentioned in his letter to the Bombay Goverment quoted in paragraph 2 above. [...] At Khalghat where the Narmada would be crossed the line would tap the districts on the north bank of the river to the west of the Agra—Bombay Road the traffic of which at present joins the road at that point en route to Mhow and Indore south of the river the western portion of the Nimar districts belonging to Indorc on the east of the line would be opened up as would a portion of the Dhar Sta [...] states that the Chhota Udepur Barwaha Railway will open up the country beween the north bank of the Narmada river and the Vindhya hills and will also give access to the portion of the Barwani State near Anjar (an important trade centre) and to the portion of the Nimar District of Indore on the south bank of the river north and west of Khargon.
