:During the first post-war quinquennium it is proposed to lay somthing more than the foundations of a plan to make the Province 100 per cent literate and to bring within the reach of all the benefits of expert medical attention: The Government are firmly of opinion that the heavy expenditure which they propose to incur on Medical and Public Health schemes on the extension of compulsory edu [...] The schemes for the improvement and extension of Madras forests provide for the creation of two new forest divisiOns for the control and acquisition of private forests for further forest reservation incluing the creation of village forests and for the return of panchayat.forests to the control of the department. [...] One of the obstacles to the provision of cheap power for industry is that the bulk of the power generated is hydro-electric. [...] Ultmately the medical inspection of school children will be part of the duties of the staff of the medical and public health centres to be established througout the Province. [...] Each District Workshop willbe managed by a directorate of seven members five of whom will be elected by the general body of ex-soldiers and the other two will be the Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies having jurisdiction in the locality and a nominee of the Director of Industries and Commerce.
