Report on the Working of Co-Operative Societies in Bihar and Orissa for the Year 1934

The Government of India kindly made a grant for repairs to builings of co-operative institutions and that grant and the subsidy of the local Government to the Federation to cover remissions of levies on societies in the affected areas are mentioned elsewhere. [...] towards the close of the year to convert the guarantee shares into ordinary shares in view of the suspension of the cash credit of Rs. [...] The Bank continued to finance directly the Paharia societies in the Santal Parganas numbering 36 at the end of the year under the supervtion and control of a local advisory committee corns ting of 10 Members including the Subdivisional Officer of B ajmahal as chairman. [...] The co-operative movement is passing through difficult times and much credit is due to the Board of Directors for the tact and judgment with which they have handled the problems affectina.° the finances of the Bank and its relations with the central banks. [...] Diversion of fresh capital into the movement and the organization of new societies on sound lines side by side with the improvement of old ones are the supreme need of the movement.
