Most of the country spirit consumed in the Presidency is made from use of different the dried flowers of the mhowra tree distributed.s erion how (Bassia latifolia) which is common in some districts and Native States in Gujarat in the western portions of KMndesh and Nasik in the inland talukas of Thana and in two talukas of the Kolaba District. [...] The arrangements for the supply and sale of country spirit in the Sat6ra Poona and Ahmednagar Districts under the contract supply system in the year were the same as in the previous year. [...] The fluctuations in the manufacture of this spirit in any year result partly from the quantity of spirit in stock at the distilleries at the close of the preceding year and partly from the demand for toddy spirit during the year. [...] The number of shops licensed for the sale of country spirits in the spirit shops several districts of the Presidency at the beginning of the year under report was 2 5].2 against 2 514 in the previous year. [...] The number of licenses issued during the year under report for the sale of this spirit was 43 in the City of Bombay and 28 in the mofussil against practically the same figures respectively in the previous year.
